Before we even reached Jamaica, the holiday started on the right note thanks to flying premium economy with Virgin Atlantic.
With a 10-hour flight from London to Jamaica, travelling comfortably with children is key. Premium Economy proved worth its weight in gold. The extra space, comfortable seating and attentive service meant both of our boys slept for a large part of the journey — which is every travelling parent’s dream.
Virgin Atlantic’s family-friendly service made the long-haul flight feel far easier than expected and set the tone for the relaxing week ahead.

Arriving at Beaches Ocho Rios feels like stepping into a family paradise. The resort sits along a beautiful stretch of the Jamaican coastline near Ocho Rios, where calm turquoise water meets soft sand and lush tropical surroundings.
Our days quickly settled into the perfect holiday rhythm.
Most mornings were spent at the Pirates Island Water Park, where the boys raced between slides, splash zones and lazy rivers. After a busy morning of water-filled adventures, we’d drift leisurely down to the beach.
The beach itself is truly divine — warm Caribbean waters, soft sand, and the sort of views that make you instantly switch into holiday mode.
Sesame Street Magic That Made the Holiday
For our boys, the true highlight of the holiday was the Sesame Street experience.
Beaches Resorts have an exclusive partnership with Sesame Street, meaning children can meet beloved characters throughout the resort.
The special Sesame Street breakfast absolutely made the trip. Seeing the boys’ faces light up as their favourite characters visited the table was pure magic. There were hugs, photos, dancing and plenty of laughter — the kind of moments that make family travel so special.
A Children’s Club That Parents Dream Of
One of the biggest surprises of the trip was just how fantastic the kids’ club was.
Every afternoon the boys happily headed off to the children’s club for around three hours of activities, games and entertainment. The staff were incredible and the programme kept them completely engaged.
The result? Two very happy — and very tired — boys.
They were so worn out from the day’s adventures that they were fast asleep by 7pm every night, which gave us the rare luxury of a quiet evening to ourselves.
Incredible Dining Across the Resort
Food is often the make-or-break element of an all-inclusive holiday, but Beaches Ocho Rios delivers outstanding variety.
Each evening we made it our mission to try a different restaurant across the resort, sampling everything from Caribbean flavours to international cuisine.
The quality of the food was genuinely impressive, and with so many options there was something for everyone — even picky young eaters.
Dining became a highlight of the day rather than an afterthought, rounding off long sunny days in the most delicious way.
Swimming with Dolphins in Jamaica
No trip to Jamaica would feel complete without a little adventure.
We took a day trip to Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios where we had the incredible opportunity to swim with dolphins.
It was a spectacular experience — equal parts thrilling and magical — and something the boys will talk about for years to come.
Moments like that are what make family holidays unforgettable.
